This visa lets a child who is single and already in Australia stay with a relative if their parents are deceased, can't care for them or can't be found.

The child must
- be under 18 years of age, single and with no parent to care for them
- have a relative who is a settled Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent-resident
- be in Australia but not in immigration clearance when the application is made and when we make a decision

With this visa the child can
- remain in Australia indefinitely
- work and study in Australia in line with Australian law
- enrol in Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare
- sponsor relatives to come to Australia
- attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program, if eligible
- lodge an application for Australian citizenship, if eligible.
