Subclass 600 Tourist Visa Secured to Give Student Extra Time to Arrange New Education Provider
Case Summary
A student whose Subclass 573 visa had expired and who was unable to obtain a Confirmation of Enrolment from his new education provider in time was assisted to obtain a Subclass 600 Tourist Visa, buying the time needed to either finalise the enrolment arrangements or make alternative plans.
Background
Our client had been studying in Australia on a Subclass 573 Student Visa for several years. When the visa expired, he was attempting to transfer to a new education provider but was unable to obtain the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) required to lodge a new student visa application before the expiry date. Despite efforts on our part and multiple discussions with the institution, the CoE was not forthcoming in time. We were then instructed to apply for a Subclass 600 Tourist Visa to give him additional time in Australia.
Challenges
- Student visa had expired without a new CoE being obtained despite attempts to secure it
- Applying for a visitor visa as a bridge while student arrangements remained unresolved
- Demonstrating genuine temporary entry intent
Outcome
The Subclass 600 Tourist Visa was granted, giving the applicant the time needed to make the necessary arrangements with his new educational provider.
