Business & Investment Visa – Legacy Matters

Advice on existing Business Innovation and Investment visa matters following closure of the BIIP to new applications.

The Business Innovation and Investment Program closed permanently to new subclass 188 applications on 31 July 2024. However, existing subclass 188 applications and visa holders can still have significant ongoing migration issues, including permanent-stage subclass 888 applications, extensions and compliance questions.

Closed to new subclass 188 applications

Grid Migration does not present the former BIIP as an open pathway. We can, however, advise on existing applications, current subclass 188 visa holders and related subclass 888 matters where the legacy framework remains relevant.

Legacy matters may include

  • on-hand subclass 188 applications lodged before closure
  • subclass 188 extension questions where available
  • subclass 888 permanent-stage eligibility
  • state or territory nomination issues
  • business and investment compliance evidence
  • changes in business structure or investment history
  • refusal and review options for existing matters
